Hello! I am Kyliah May. I am a senior at Illinois State University working on my Bachelors of Science in Middle Level Eduction. I want to be the best possible middle level math and science teacher I can be, which is why I am also a Golden Apple Scholar. I try to enhance my craft as much as possible by attending summer internships with Golden Apple, working at the Stomping Grounds Summer Camp, and teaching at South Suburban Vineyard Church every summer.

Aside from my academic and career life, I am a super big sister because I am the oldest with 8 younger siblings. (Side note: I also love superheroes). I have 4 younger sisters and 4 younger brothers. I also have younger cousins that I am with so much that they are practically my siblings too. Since I am used to having such a big family, my mentality for my classrooms is that we are a family. I also dibble and dabble in the arts. In my free time I like to listen to music and do paintings, drawings, etc. You may have seen me also on Tik Tok or youtube trying to help other teachers like me and connect with my students on their platform.

I am very passionate in everything that I do. I give my 110%. If I set my mind to something, there is nothing that can stand in my way.

    My educational philosophy is:
"I believe that students are the skyscrapers to our future as a society. They come to the classroom with rich building blocks of prior knowledge asking for help, so they can reach the next floor on their blueprint. The role of the teacher is to facilitate and assist the students to understand these new concepts, so they can have a solid foundation to continue on their journey. Education should be engaging, restorative, and equitable for every student because every student has the potential to reach the skies."

I will do everything in my power to help all my students reach their full potential, as should every teacher!
